WABL Trial registrations for the upcoming season will open on Friday 28th August via Play HQ and will close on Thursday 10th September. All athletes wishing to be considered for selection must register to attend trials through Play HQ, even if they are applying for an exemption.
Trials will be conducted across three stages: Stage 1 is for athletes not currently in the 2026 WABL Program (including any athletes who were previously selected but withdrew, who must attend Stage 1). Stage 2 is for athletes invited from Stage 1, as well as current 2026 WABL athletes including train-on's. Stage 3 is by invitation only following Stage 2.
Exemptions - Trial Attendance
In exceptional circumstances, athletes who are unable to attend a WABL Trial (Stage 1,2 or 3) may apply for an exemption. Acceptable reasons include:
Any athlete wishing to apply for an exemption must email competitions@mandurahbasketball.com.au once trial registrations open. Exemption requests must be submitted prior to the closure of trial registrations on Friday 11th September. Please note that approval is not automatic, and each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Athletes with an approved exemption must still complete their registration via Play HQ within the advertised timeframe in order to be considered for selection.
Please refer to the Magic WABL Handbook (to be updated for 2027) for full details on program expectations and commitment requirements prior to registering. Please note the fees showing in the Magic WABL Handbook are applicable for 2026 and will be updated for 2027.
